Introduction
We are making changes to our shared hosting platform to better increase security and reduce any potential risks to the domains on the system.
What’s being changed?
We are planning to make the following changes:
-
Change the default SSH Port
We are changing the default SSH Port from 22 to 8620.
The new port is completely random and avoids any other port conflicts.-
Updates & patching
We have been testing a new backend system, to allow us to apply updates and patches to any server without the need for a reboot. The new system is checks and applies new updates to both the Kernal & the control panel, every 4 hours and applies the updates.
When will this be happening?
We have scheduled the maintenance window on:
Thursday 24th October 2019 between 8PM & 10PM
Will there be any downtime?
There will only be a small window of downtime, which is a reboot to apply the new software & restart of services to apply to the new port and firewall rules. This should be no more than 10-15 minutes as a maximum
You can visit: https://portal.selecthosting.co.uk/serverstatus.php to keep an eye on updates on this specific task.
How will this affect me?
When connecting to SSH you will need to change the port from 22 to 8620, from the date specified above.
